The Real Housewife of Orange Country star Shannon O’Donnell has gone on the record to reveal how she has been using drugs and alcohol for years to mask her true feelings.
The 34-year-old was previously the face of ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ and starred on reality TV shows such as The Real World, American Idol and Real House.
Shannon O’Neill, 34, says she’s been using cocaine and alcohol since the age of 13.
She said in an interview with New York Magazine that she used it to hide her emotions, not to be a drug addict, and that her parents didn’t know how to deal with her drug use.
She revealed that she was prescribed a ‘slimy, white pill’ in the 80s.
“The white pill is a little bit like a powder that’s made with a little sugar and that’s supposed to give you a sense of relaxation, so that you don’t feel all of your pain,” she said.
“I did it to help me get through those difficult times that I was going through, and it helped me feel better.”
She said she did cocaine and drank alcohol in high school, and would smoke crack to cope with the stress of being on the hit show.
“It’s just been a crazy, crazy ride.
I was on the show once and it was really great, but the drugs were a lot worse.
It was just the drugs,” she told the magazine.”
My parents weren’t around at all when I was growing up.
I didn’t really have anyone that I could talk to about my life.”
When I did go to college, I was just in a different school, so I just didn’t have anyone to talk to.
“And I started smoking crack at 19.”
Shannon told the New York Magazine that she tried cocaine and had a hard time getting clean.
“In my early 20s, I just started to get really serious about drugs.
I started going to rehab and it just seemed like the only thing I could do was smoke crack and drink,” she revealed.”
The only thing that made me feel good about it was that it was so easy to do and it wasn’t a crime, which was good for me because I thought I was so different from the rest of the people that were doing it.”
Shanamillion O’Reilly, a reality TV star, told The New York Times in 2017 that she and Shannon were not friends but she said they were friends in highschool.
Shanamy was known for her roles on American Idol, The Dukes Of Hazzards and Real World.
