ALBA, Peru — The woman who claims Donald Trump raped her in 1998 has released a statement detailing the sexual assault, and calling it a “horrific act.”
In the statement, actress and activist Gloria Allred said she never met the mogul and that she believes she was raped at the hands of a man she met at a bar in the early 1990s.
The alleged assault took place when Allred was 17 and Trump was 36.
“I am appalled by the false allegations made against me by Donald Trump, his daughter, Melania and his son, Barron.
I am a victim of a vicious and despicable act by Trump, who has called me a liar and accused me of having slept with him at least eight times.
I have no memory of the event,” Allred wrote.
She added that she has not spoken to Trump since the alleged attack and has filed a police report.
Trump denied Allred’s claims, calling her a “narcissist” who is trying to ruin his family’s brand.
He also accused Allred of being “the victim of an elaborate smear campaign.”
“This is a terrible attack on my reputation, and a shameful attack on all who dare stand up for women and children,” he said in a statement on Twitter.
He later apologized.
Allred’s attorney, Gloria Allra, said she plans to file a lawsuit against Trump.
